Rickshaws enter the 21st century with a brand new look and Wifi.

The veritable blue rickshaws we see on the roads are all set to be replaced by new, state of the art, futuristic rickshaws as part of a new marketing campaign by Ufone.

Silver colored and shaped like an egg, the rickshaws have been reportedly seen in Lahore. They come equipped with connections for Wifi enabled services along with GPS. Next time you don’t have to tell the driver where the heck he has to turn!
The rickshaws have been designed and manufactured by Ascend Engineering at Mansoora, Lahore. Although rickshaws have always stood out for being eye-catching, these rickshaws are something else entirely. Its almost like they lifted the design from a Hollywood flick (Minority Report wink wink)

The campaign has not yet started. A fleet awaits the green signal before entering the streets of Lahore. A press event, to be held shortly, will detail the extent of the launch, the specific attributes of the rickshaw etc.

One thing is for sure, the age of the silencer-less rickshaws might be coming to an end. We can only hope that with the passage of time (the colorful nation that we are), owners of the rickshaws will find ways to decorate the autos with slogans, loud colors and outlandish paintings. Rickshaws without slogans, are no rickshaws, if you ask me!
